How many AV-30s can be connected to the AV-Mag?
The AV-Mag can be paralleled up to 4 AV-30s. Only One AV-30 should power the AV-Mag red wire (pin 13 on AV-30).
I am unable to calibrate the AV-Mag or the CALMAG flag continues to display after calibration.
Please check the orientation of the AV-Mag installation and verify the correct orientation is inputted into the AV-30. The common issue is that the orientation has been inputted incorrectly.
The AV-Mag comes with 6 conductor shielded wire, do I need all the wires?
You will only connect the Red, Black, and Brown wires. We do not provide a connector or extra length wire. You will need to solder on or use a connector/splice to add 3 conductor wiring. M27500-22TG3T14 is the mil-spec wiring that can be used.
Where can I find the installation instructions?
The installation instructions can be found in the AV-30-C manual.
The heading on the AV-Mag drifts.
If the AV-Mag is installed correctly no drifting should be seen. Check and make sure the AV-Mag has been turn on Serial #4 in the install menu of the AV-30.
The heading of the AV-30 is always 10, 30, 45, 90, 180 (or other) degrees off.
The orientation of the AV-Mag has been inputted incorrectly. Check the orientation of the AV-Mag and what is on the AV-30. If you have multiple AV-30s connected then all AV-30s need to have the same orientation inputted.
The AV-Mag heading jumps around in flight or on the ground.
Most likely there is interference from something in the aircraft. Check for wire bundles that are not secured. Make sure the AV-Mag is located far enough from anything like wire bundles that might cause interference. If close to lights, make sure the lights are grounded at the same location as the AV-Mag shielding or routed in board of the AV-Mag.
Do I calibrate the AV-Mag in flight?
No, the calibration will be completed on the ground.
Do I have to use a compass rose to calibrate the AV-Mag?
No, you only need to know North. Set the aircraft to North and follow the AV-30 for the other headings.
Do you have a video?
Yes, AV-Mag Calibration.
