Today, uAvionix announced it received Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) 22S08-05 from by Agência Nacional de Aviação Civil (ANAC) for its tailBeaconX 1090 MHz ADS-B transponder.
With the ANAC validation of tailBeaconX, this taillight integrated Mode S / ADS-B transponder is now available in over 250 of the most popular single-engine aircraft models in Brazil, including Cessna, Beechcraft, Piper, Mooney, Tecnam, and Socata. Additional models, including light twins are expected to be added in the next few months. uAvionix will immediately begin shipping orders to Brazilian resellers and buyers.
tailBeaconX is a highly integrated 1090 MHz ADS-B transponder that replaces a rear navigation light by combining it with an ADS-B OUT / Mode S transponder, SBAS GPS, antennas, and rear LED position light. tailBeaconX utilizes the uAvionix AV-30-C multi-function display to be installed as the control head for which a separate STC has already been issued by ANAC under number 2022S01-10. In this configuration, the AV-30-C is able to leverage the tailBeaconX SBAS GPS for its GPS track display. In the future, uAvionix anticipates adding additional means of control through uAvionix and third-party devices.
tailBeaconX is uniquely designed to meet ADS-B OUT requirements in any airspace at a low price point and easy installation. Besides providing the safety and operational benefits of having ADS-B OUT for Air Traffic Control (ATC), tailBeaconX will enhance situational awareness for other aircraft equipped with ADS-B IN. With the growing use of ADS-B in Brazil, tailBeaconX will offer a permanently installed ADS-B OUT solution for certified general aviation aircraft, while offering optimal visibility to other aircraft and drones equipped with ADS-B receivers, saving aircraft owners thousands of pounds for equipment and installation as compared to other systems.
